🔱EXPLANATION TEXT

•Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say 'why' and 'how' of the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography and history text books.

🔱GENERIC STRUCTURE

•General statement

Stating the phenomenon issues which are to be explain. 

•Sequenced of explanation

Stating series of steps which explain the phenomena.

🔱PURPOSE

•Is often used to tell how and why the thing (phenomena) occur in nature.

🔱LANGUAGE FEATURES

Using:

•Simple Present

•Abstract nouns 

•Passive voice

•Action verbs

•Explain the process

🔱EXPLANATION TEXT 

•An explanation text is a non-fiction text that is used to describe how or why things happen.

🔱SOCIAL FUNCTION

 •to describe or explain how or why a certain phenomenon happens.

🔱STRUCTURE

1. An opening statement that identifies the process to be explained

2. Description or Sequences why and how

something happens

3. Conclusion

🔱LINGUISTIC FEATURES 

• using simple present tense

• using passive sentences

• using linking words or conjunction (in addition, then, moreover, etc..)

• using action verbs (breaks, erupts, etc)

• giving a detailed description to create

a rich meaning.
